YA for Obama Tuesday, Sep 30 2008

…is a site I’m proud to be part of, as well as AIFORC.

You can check it out here.

I’m not usually overtly political – my passion on earth, beyond writing, is animal rights – but we are definitely living in interesting times, as the saying has it, and as citizens, we have a duty to participate in the democratic process.  So see you at the polls, fellow Americans. Vote with your brain.

Jane, Deborah, and Denice Thursday, Sep 25 2008

Headlong is now in my hands – author’s copies came yesterday, with the attendant rush: Here it is, it’s real, it’s really a book!

Another great pleasure for me will be to put this book into the hands of its dedicatees – Jane, Deborah, and Denice.  A story about real friendship: three real, droll, tough, loving friends.  This one’s for you, girls.

Signing with Justine Larbalestier and Michael Spradlin Wednesday, Sep 17 2008

. . . at the Oak Park Public Library in Oak Park, Michigan (and yes, that is a lot of Oaks). The signing is Thursday, October 2, at 7 PM.

If you should need more in the way of introduction…

Justine Larbalestier = the Magic or Madness Trilogy, How to Ditch Your Fairy, http://justinelarbalestier.com

Michael Spradlin = The Youngest Templar www.michaelspradlin.com

OPL = 248.691.7480

The Book Beat, our sponsors = 248.968.1190 http://thebookbeat.com

— and me, you already know. Headlong will just be out, so if you’re an early adopter, now’s the moment.

I love these multiple-author events – I get to be the audience for 2/3 of the time, which is great fun because I’m a reader as well as a writer, natch.

Romancing the Top Ten Monday, Sep 15 2008

This is an unexpected pleasure: Kissing the Bee was chosen as one of Booklist’s Top 10 Youth Romances in the September 15th issue. Bee kissers of the world, unite! Also readers of YA romance in particular and romance in general — which, as this issue makes clear, is a very large continent indeed.

Here comes the Funhole, to a screen near you Tuesday, Sep 9 2008

Here’s some really exciting news I couldn’t share until. . .right about. . . now: The Cipher, my very first novel, has been optioned for film by writer/producer Carroll Brown and producer Jonathan Levit. Yow! More details as I can post them, and look for a Cipher page on my [redesigned] website very soon.

I am tres geeked.

A Bookslut bouquet Monday, Sep 8 2008

Geoffrey Goodwin’s interview with me is up on Bookslut today – we talked about writing, and Under the Poppy, and Headlong, and writing, and why I would serve dinner to Flannery O’Connor, and writing. . . He just completely gets it. I can’t recall any interview I’ve enjoyed as much. Bravo, Geoffrey, and bouquets to Bookslut.
